From California to Northeast Ohio
Lockhard plans to open in Spring 2010

New regulations (CA SB 250 and other laws) are going into effect in California that will change the way breeders and trainers operate their businesses. For Lockhard, it would mean we couldn't remain small, with our trademark personal customer service being more difficult to offer.

Lockhard is making a change so that we can remain small to give you and your dog personalized attention, and to continue breeding our unique line of German Shorthaired Pointers that are great family dogs and awesome bird hunters.

As of July 1, 2009, Lockhard will close its doors in Orland, CA. We plan to reopen our doors in Northeast Ohio in Spring 2010. Please watch us for location and details. We will continue to offer the highest level of bird dog training with personal attention for you and your dog, and a quality line of bird dog that is a great family and hunting dog.

Carol and I will deeply miss this property, all the visiting pups and owners, and all the excitement of watching as your pups develop into the best that they can be. All are welcome to send their pups to us for training.

All dogs presently in training or booked for training this summer will be completed. No new dogs will be accepted — remaining space is reserved for returning customers.
