From Malakai's Mom
Rescued GSP benefits from training

Alexia and Malakai. Click for big.
I just wanted to tell you I am so happy with
the progress Malakai has made!! You did a great job in training
him for me. He listens much better, walks calmly on the leash and
doesn't pull, he's also more relaxed in the house as well! I work
on his training every day at the park where there are lots of birds
to distract him and he's doing well. What you did with him was great,
because now he has a solid obedience foundation and its easier for
me to keep up his training on my own.
He's such a great dog and you've allowed him to
become even better!! Thank you so much again! Please have a wonderful
holiday with your wife and your dogs!! I'll let you know when I
need to board him with you once I purchase my plane ticket.
Regards,
Alexia and Malakai

Lockhard's Target in the field with Odys. Click

Just thought I'd send you a short note. Been
taking Target out to my club the last few weeks and letting him
go. Doing great, runs like hell—so much energy! Working on
ranging closer, as he's using his nose more and more he's getting
a lot more methodical in the way he works in front of me. Retrieves,
although this week was the first time I shot pheasant for him, it
took him a while to pick up that big ole bird. The hen he's pointing
in the pic he got that scent a good 100 yards away. The wind was
blowing pretty good and he just started wiggling that tail (you
know) and was on a mission driving forward and weaving back and
forth until he zeroed in on it. I was running up that damn hill
trying to get my camera, got the pic just in time for the bird to
fly, threw my camera down grabbed the gun and dropped the bird.
I was worn out after that!! Then I had to find my camera. Anyway,
looks like you've been busy with new pups and all.
Take care, Mark, Target and Odys

From Bruiser's Mom & Dad
Started Dog (Lockhard's Gus' 2007 pup)

Lockhard's Bruiser loves his life. We are happy when our dogs go to homes with lots of love, attention, & birds! Click for big and more (2 photos).
We just wanted to send a couple pictures of Bru, and give you a little update. In this picture, he is enjoying hugs and attention from "Dad". He is such a good boy in the house. It's hard to see from just a couple pictures, but he is happy, exuberant, intelligent, funny, sleek, and the picture of health. He has certainly won our hearts. I would take more pictures of him outside, but he rarely holds still long enough! He loves to be out, exploring all the wonderful sights and smells on the property. He also loves to ride in the Jeep. Bru had a very good pheasant season, and is constantly trying to hunt up something on the property. He very nearly caught a tom turkey that lingered just a moment too long. Bru is the fastest animal I've ever seen! I wish you could have seen the look on his face when he saw that turkey - a mixed look of astonishment that said "What the hell is that?!!!"
Love to you both, Michele & Fred

Gunner at 4 months. Click for big and more (4 photos).
I would like to thank you for selling me an AMAZING bird dog. Words can't explain how happy and satisfied I am with Gunner. I followed your directions of how to train my dog to be an outstanding bird dog, and it's working! At 12-13 weeks old, Gunner was not only pointing, but he was holding a point to my command of "whoa!!!" It simply amazes me of how smart, and how well he performs during a training session. I realize how important it is to have "that leash" on him while training. Again, words can't explain how impressed and satisfied I am with my dog Gunner, and I can tell you now, when I'm ready for another Short Hair, I am going straight to you with no hesitation. I HIGHLY recomend ANYONE, who is looking for an outstanding bird dog, to purchase a Short Hair from you. Hands down, you are the best breeder I have ever seen! Thank you again for blessing me with a dog that brings SOOO much joy and happiness to my life.
THANK YOU AGAIN,Nik

From Jake's Family
Started Dog (Millie's 2005 pup #2)
Dear Gary,
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for letting us purchase
Jake. Because of your love and awesome training I can guarantee
you that there is no better dog in the world! Jake is a phenomenal
bird dog, a wonderful member of our family, and sensitive. Jake
is our third German Shorthair and has taken the place of "Buster"
whom we were sure would never be toped. So from all of us, Brent,
Tamara, Carson, Paul, and Anne, thank you for making Jake truly
the best dog that we could ever imagine!
P.S. I love you Grandpa! Love, Jake

Coach had a couple good days (11/07). Click for
Big and more (2 photos).
Coach continues to get a great deal of attention.
She's loving it and we're loving it. "Gentle" has become
the word most associated with her, but most people don't see her
in the back yard where she is "fast!" We're working on
her commands and coming along beautifully with them. This morning
she went into the heel position for me without even being on a leash.
When we walk her, she's usually very attentive, even though she's
still distracted by a few things. She has a keen sense of smell
and movement.
I love how alert she is, and curious. Then, when
she lays down in her bed or kennel, she passes out in exhaustion.
It's so peaceful to have her around. The vet said she has a very
slow heart rate, which is good, meaning she is in good athletic
shape.

From Bella's Dad
2006 Yellow Lab
I am taking her out tomorrow and maybe Sunday
rain or shine! She did show real promise on the last three birds—and
I have a lot of confidence in her future. She is a beautiful little
dog and I couldn't be happier. Also she is now a real buddy of my
Chessie and keeps him moving around. I might even take him out with
us and see if she gets him hunting. He has a super nose.
Anyway, this year is fun and by next year Bella will be a star.
And she is getting as spoiled as the rest of my
animals. She has a nice kennel in the barn but gets out a lot of
the day. She has been real good about sticking around so we let
her out when we are outside. And then she comes into the garage
at night and sleeps in a big crate next to Chip which she seems
to like too.
